Your points are recorded at the top of the screen so that you can easily keep track of them. There are other balloons in each level that will help you through the game. One of the balloons is a rainbow. This can be used if you only have two balloons of the same color. The rainbow balloon will act as the same color so that there are enough to pop. When the level is over, your information on the level is displayed. The number of balloons popped and the longest chain are revealed. You can then play another level to try to beat your score. The best way to get as many points as possible is to use a bomb. This will clear several balloons within a small area.
