Although most racing games are strictly-defined within the genre's narrow limitations, Dream Car Racing is less of a racing game than a runner: a game where the object is continuous movement with minimal obstacles or competition. In runners, maintaining your rhythm is key, and you'll find that it's surprisingly easy for a seemingly straightforward run in Dream Car Racing to turn into a disastrous crash. This gives an otherwise simple game the edge of challenge it needs to maintain an engaging entertainment experience.

Oddly enough, the Car of your Dreams begins with a crafting screen. This click-and-drag interface, reminiscent to design blueprints, uses an intuitive design that allows you to cobble together the predesignated parts in a variety of angles and dimensions. Coins earned by playing the game will allow you to graft on additional parts, and, thankfully, the designers chose not to milk this coin acquisition for microtransactions. Even a few minutes of playtime already will allow you to access optional new parts, although the shop's selection of wares is a little more limited than would be ideal.

Once you get into the game with your stream-lined perfect vehicle - or your lumbering monstrosity held together by duct tape - you'll find that Dream Car Racing is not even, technically, a racing game. With no opponents to outrace, Dream Car Racing is held together by your own ability to race forward as fast as possible to earn coins while not compromising the stability of your vehicle. Like Excitebike or Snuggle Truck, your true competition is your own score, with the added ability to improve your vehicle steadily through experimentation.

The physics are slightly floaty and very arcade-oriented, and occasionally result in vehicle designs that are inherently ridiculous doing better than a realistic model. However, many players would consider this a feature, rather than a bug, and it does allow you to have a wide range of functional vehicles for play.

Although Dream Car Racing has a lot of charm and heart, its level designs lack a certain visual panache that would give it longevity, with a bare bones presentation that doesn't do justice to the game's mechanical foundation. You most likely won't be enjoying this vehicle runner for weeks or months, but the time you do spend with it is unlikely to be anything but rewarding.

ENJOY THE GAME!
